SMIT Rotterdam

This is the 1:200 scale SMIT Rotterdam, built by  Dave Ashcroft.

Dave Ashcroft writes: This is my attempt at the Smit Rotterdam. It is built out of the box using the suggested colour scheme. I had problems with the hull fitting together and when I fixed this some of the deck parts had to be filed to fit. I also struggled with painting the molded on parts. I have not tried to weather or detail the model apart from rigging and cable reels. I have only recently returned to modeling and this is my 4th ship. As I gain experience, I will buy this model again and use PE and scratchbuild some parts myself. I think that this is a good kit to practice on due to the large scale. It has good fitting parts and did not require lots of filling etc. The pictures were taken in my workshop / garden shed so the backdrop could be better. Any advice to improve this model will be appreciated.
